Why hyalurone is so important
With increasing age the skin loses its elasticity and tautness, small wrinkles appear, the tissue gets weaker – the aging process has started.
The reason for this is, among other things, that the body produces less hyalurone which fullfills important functions in the body, e.g. the fixation of moisture and water in the tissue.
Hyaluronic acid is able to store relatively high amounts of water compared to its own volume. The vitreous body of the eye, for example, consists of 98% water bound to only 2% hyaluronic acid.
If the skin and tissue are deficient in hyaluronic acid, resulting from a drop in the hyalurone level, the production of collagen and elastin will also automatically slow down.
The amount of hyaluronic acid stored in the skin thus determines the elasticity of the skin and of the connective tissue.
